Disney on Ice: Our Rapunzel Doll Replacement
Our replacement doll |
About a week and a half ago, we took our daughter to see Disney on Ice: Dare to Dream. It was a lovely event and hubby wanted to get her a princess doll. She chose the Rapunzel doll or "Apunzel" as she calls her. Hubby forked over $24 for it and our toddler was beyond excited. That was, until halfway on the drive to dinner, the doll's hair is tangling. Tangled the movie...tangling hair - I thought it was cute, until I attempted to untangle it with my hands and a ridiculous amount of hair started coming out. By the end of the night, it was a nightmare. I figured the best way to stop the breakage would be to braid it. With our child, that didn't last long and again we were desperately trying to fix/save this doll's poor hair.
Besides the holes, I really liked the hair. The foil "glow" really was a cute touch. |
That next morning, we let her take Rapunzel with her to church and heard from another mom that their doll also has this same issue, and they are "about to cut her hair like they did in the movie." Wow, I thought. We just paid $24 for this and I am not cutting the hair, especially after one day! So, I decided to call the company first thing the next day and I did. I decided to put the defective hair in a baggie just in case they needed proof of how bad this really was. The customer service agent was very polite and put in the request for a replacement with the possibility of a different character. She said we should receive it in 1-3 weeks.
Well it arrived today, with Tiana instead from The Princess and the Frog. I am really pleased with the company's handling of the issue and my daughter will be thrilled that she has a new doll. Since the company does not want the doll back, and I don't blame them, we have to figure out what to do with the other. To "lose" Rapunzel or cut her hair - because I don't think the braid will last too much longer!
Have you ever asked to return/exchange a souvenir purchase at an event?
