Review: Adventures in Booga Booga Land - Volume 1 by Richard Milner

This week I am reviewing "Adventures in Booga Booga Land - Volume 1" the DVD by Richard Milner.

This animated series follows the friendship of Marty the monkey and Gerard the Giraffe and relates their adventures to the parables of Jesus. Episode 1 conveys the parable of The Workers in the Vineyard with its story of how Marty and Gerard get a job  and learns that the boss can be generous to others who don't deserve it. Episodes 2 and 3 follow the same structure conveying the parables of  The Wise and Foolish Builders and  The Lamp under The Bowl.  These stories are appropriate for school aged children.

This DVD serves its intentions to both entertain and teach children the parables of Jesus simultaneously. Milner did an excellent job in conveying the parables in a new manner, while staying true to the biblical stories. Children will enjoy the adventures while parents will love that their children are learning. The characters are likeable. The series is drawn well and colorful. However, I was disappointed that the adventures do contain some instances of mild violence, but no where near as much as what is on TV cartoon shows. As a result, I would only recommend this product to parents with children 7 and older.
