Our exhibit was similar to this one.
Hey everyone!

Saturday was the annual Museum Day. My family went for the first time and we really enjoyed it. We went to one of local museums and was among at least 100 other families there. When we arrived, we were ushered to park in overflow parking so we knew we were in for a crowd. Luckily there were no lines at the ticket booth. There were puppets from all centuries and countries there. The highlight of the trip was the Jim Henson exhibit. We got to see a life-sized Big Bird and a sketch of how he is operated.

My fave was the Fraggle Rock character puppets! It was amazing to see how sketches turned into real puppets. My daughter really enjoyed looking at Ernie (he's in some of her story books) and she liked the puppet materials, where there were swatches of puppet fabric. I took the opportunity to teach her describing words like soft, fuzzy, smooth, rough, etc. Jim Henson was a genius in my opinion. He worked on so many of our favorite kids shows that I never knew he was a part of. It was a great experience.

Museum Day saved us $16 total on general admission for me and my husband. The little one was free since she is under 2 and parking was free. While we were there, I snagged a few souvenirs - a postcard for $.50, a VHS video for $.50 (yes, I have a VHS/DVD combo player) and a finger puppet for $2.50.
